Larger sized plants. This easy to grow and attractive ginger can grow from 5-7 feet tall in semi-shade. It is frost sensitive in its leaves and stalks, but, root hardy all the way to Zone 7. One thing that favors this ginger is that it will bloom one new stalks the same year, should it freeze to the ground the previous winter. It is a fast grower and can spread rapidly in the tropical garden. Inflorescences are a rusty-red cone with gorgeous, white, sweet scented crepe-paper like 4” flowers appearing to pop out here and there form the cone. A worthwhile ginger for any garden! Available as growing plant or stalk only–plant sizes will vary based on availabliity—ranging from 12″-16+” inches from soil line. Larger ones may need to be cut back some to fit in box.
